We thought this week we would give you ALL the information on A R Richards, here’s an A-Z of all
things ARR.
A is for Agriculture…naturally. Founded in 1980, the Richards family created a Plant Hire and
Agricultural Contracting business. The company then continued to grow and diversify to meet the
changing needs of the customers.
B is for Ben. One of the company founders, Tony Richards, had a Border Collie named Ben and he
was his best friend. Unfortunately, he passed away as our head office in Tern Hill was being opened,
fittingly it was named Bensite in memory of him.
C is for Construction. We not only hire out our machinery but will work closely with you to
understand your requirements. Whether you need help with project planning, budgeting, or
execution, we have the resources and expertise to get the job done right.
D is for Diggers. We have Volvo 1.5t, 5t and 14t excavators with Breaker hire to suit and a sorting
grab.
E is for Euro Bins. We have a whole selection of bin sizes for different waste streams, which can be
used for your business or events…or both. We even provide a refuse bag collection for smaller
businesses who won’t regularly fill a bin.
F is for Farmers. Farmers are our longest standing customers, it’s where we started. Farmers are the
few customers that will utilise all 6 of our divisions.
G is for giving back. We work with many charities, our main two are Midlands Air Ambulance and
Hope House. Alongside many fundraising events, for every lift our bin lorries complete, we pledge a
financial donation to both charities.
H is for Hiab. Our Hiab is used to cover various tasks to support each department within the
business; delivery of all your builders merchant orders, collecting bales of waste and transporting
large bulky items and cabins.
I is for investment. Not only do we invest in the latest equipment to make sure we’re the best in the
business, but we also invest in our staff.
J is for Jobs. We have a wide range of jobs within the company. These jobs have potential
progression within the company, four of our current managers all started on the weighbridge.
K is for Kilos. Everything that comes into site gets weighed in and out on our weighbridges, this is to
ensure we stay inline with our permit and regulations.
L is for Loadall. A multipurpose vehicle used within all divisions of the business from Waste,
Construction, Agricultural and Merchants. Used to clear bays, make bulk bags, unload and load
deliveries, customers, and balers.
M is for Merchants. Our Builders Merchants are the one-stop-shop for all building needs. Ranging
from pipes and fittings, to aggregates, and concrete products. If we don’t already have it on site, we
can order in.
N is for Newport Show. Newport show is our local agricultural show. This year we won Best Trade
Stand!
O is for Office dogs. We have two regular visitors in our head office: Aggie and Otis.
P is for Precautions. We have many precautions in place here to prevent accidents and injuries.
These are things like ensuring PPE is always worn on site, our fire suppression system and plenty of
first aiders and fire marshals.
Q is for Quarantine. We have a quarantine shed whereby we store all our hazardous waste. We also
use this area when anything comes into site that we are unable to deal with, we quarantine it until it
can be taken away.
R is for Recycling. Recycling is a big part of the company, through continued investment in our sites,
we can ensure the maximum recycling rates possible. Our goal is to divert as much waste from
landfills as possible.
S is for Skips. We understand that every job is different, which is why we offer skips for hire in a
range of sizes, from small 4 Yard Skips to large 40 Yard Skips.
T is for Transport. Our skips wouldn’t get very far without our transport team organising live routes
and jobs. They also make sure the right equipment and lorries are available for specific jobs; this
includes tippers, our Builders Merchants deliveries, bulk waste on walking floors and movement of
all heavy equipment to your site.
U is for Ukraine. In March 2022, we carried out our very own Ukraine Appeal. We used our Head
Office as a drop off point for donations, we then took them to Poland to support Ukraine. We put an
advert out on Facebook for donations, the local community supported us with enough donations for
four separate journeys. Our whole team got involved, putting in extra hours before, during and after
work to sort the large number of donations coming in.
V is for Visitors. We see many visitors through our sites, whether that be valued customers,
businesses, or potential new staff.
W is for Waste Management. At our Material Recovery Facilities (MRFs), we focus on recycling
management solutions. We handle all sorts of waste, for example General Waste, Wood, Farm
Waste, Inert Waste, and Hazardous Waste, just to name a few.
X is for Xylophone. Yes, you read that right. In our reuse shop, there are many random and
wonderful finds. My favourite is the cinema chair!
Y is for Your Local Firm. Based just outside Market Drayton in Shropshire, we offer our services
throughout Shropshire, Cheshire, Staffordshire, and the Midlands.
Z is for Zero waste to landfill. Our team’s goal is to reach Zero Landfills, and we’re proud to promise
a 97% recycling rate to all our customers.
