What’s New?
It’s been an exciting period of growth and improvement across the Builders Merchant. The changes have not only transformed how we operate but also how our customers experience the site. Here’s a rundown of some key developments:
- New shop area: A refreshed, more efficient space designed to make browsing and purchasing easier for everyone.
- Pipe shed and Plasson shed rearrangement: Optimised layouts that have streamlined our stock organisation and simplified navigating the space.
- Car park resurfacing and new visitors’ car park: This will create a smoother, safer space with dedicated areas for both customers and visitors, enhancing accessibility.
- Rubber blinds on the workshop and pipe shed: New blinds improve safety and usability, allowing for better temperature control and protection from the elements.
- Fencing around the paving area and grass verge display: These are both functional and aesthetic changes that add security and give the area a more polished, professional look.

The Team Behind the Transformation
Left to Right: Lee, Jordan, Tim, Michael, Chris, Mantas, Ben and Jim
None of this would have been possible without the hard work of our incredible team. As Michael, one of our Health & Safety leaders, put it:
“Each and every member of the team has gone above and beyond their normal duties to make the necessary changes to make us much more efficient and, in turn, competitive.”

Michael went out of his way to work with the team and learn more about their area of business over the last few months:
“Over the last couple of months, I have finally had the opportunity to further my knowledge by working at and with the Builders Merchants team… I must thank all for their time and support, as collectively, based on everyone’s input, we have made significant changes to enhance this division of the business.”
Michael’s involvement in the Builders Merchant division allowed him to see our team’s daily challenges and opportunities. His decision to immerse himself in the day-to-day operations provided invaluable insights that led to many of the changes we’ve seen recently. From understanding how the Builders Merchant runs to listening to the team’s ideas, Michael played a key role in turning these ideas into actionable improvements. His appreciation for the team’s collective effort is evident and a reminder of the value of teamwork and shared vision.

Michael’s words are a true reflection of the dedication and teamwork that’s been on display throughout this process. Every suggestion and every bit of extra effort has contributed to making the Builders Merchant site more organised, functional, and visually appealing. Our local competition has noticed, but more importantly, our customers have. The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, showing the impact of the team’s efforts.
Jim, another key member of our leadership team, echoed this sentiment, emphasising how proud he is of the entire crew:
“Over the last couple of months, the whole team have pulled together to make massive changes around the site, which has helped to improve numerous aspects of the operation and appearance. Even though we have achieved so much in such a short period, there are no plans to stop.
Michael’s final remarks reflect both his pride in the team’s accomplishments and his vision for the future:
“We are and will continue making improvements to provide the necessary services and products to customers whilst supporting our staff with in-house training and continuous professional development… I hope that this journey will even exceed my expectations and that we may need some additional real estate in the not-too-distant future.”

This has been a whole team effort, and I just want to thank everyone again—Ben, Jordan, Lee, Chris, Mantas, Craig, and Tim.”

Looking Ahead - The Next Chapter
With all the changes we’ve already made, the exciting part is knowing that we’re not done yet. The improvements will continue as we aim to enhance every part of the Builders Merchant. From seasonal stock to our new membership with the Builders Merchants Federation, the future looks bright, and we’re committed to exceeding customer expectations at every turn.
This journey wouldn’t have been possible without the collaborative spirit of our team, the support of the Directors, and the trust of our customers. We’re proud of what we’ve achieved and can’t wait to continue making the Builders Merchant a place where everyone can thrive.
Thank you to everyone who has contributed to this transformation. The changes are impressive, but what truly makes them special is the teamwork and dedication behind them.
Here’s to the next chapter!
