Over the bank holiday weekend there will be street parties, picnics and ‘The Big Help Out’ celebrating the coronation of King Charles – The first coronation in 70 years!
If you still haven’t decided how you are celebrating, here is all you need to know to plan the weekend…
Saturday 6th May
The day of the coronation! The day will start with a procession from Buckingham Palace to Westminster Abbey ready for the service at 11am – Live TV coverage will start from 7.30am. Once the ceremony is complete the procession will make the journey back to Buckingham Palace, where at 2.15 the King, Queen Consort and members of the royal family will gather on the balcony to watch the flypast.
Sunday 7th May
Time to celebrate! Today is the day of the Coronation Concert at Windsor Castle. Starting at 8pm, the event will have acts such as Take That, Katy Perry and Lionel Richie performing, and Downton Abbeys Hugh Bonneville will be hosting the evening.
And if that isn’t enough, the centre piece of the concert will be the Lighting Up The Nation, where locations across the nation will be lit up using projections, lasers, drone displays and illuminations.
