What does a plough do?

A plough creates open furrows through the soil which prepare the land for seed and planting crops.

What is a ploughing match?

A ploughing match is a contest between people who each plough part of a field. Points are awarded for straightness and neatness of the furrows. On the day there will be demonstrations, trade stands and refreshments.

Where is the nearest ploughing match?

Whitchurch young farmers have organised their annual ploughing match and takes place this weekend!

On Saturday 25th March the Whitchurch Young Farmers are hosting this years Five Nations Ploughing Challenge alongside their own.

This event will be held at Helshaw Grange, Warrant Road, Market Drayton, TF9 2JP

Starting at 10am, £5 entry – Children go free!
